| WHAT |
Content management system + Wikipedia |
| WHY |
To make web design easy for the user and customizable for the designer. |
| LANG. |
PHP/MySQL, HTML, Javascript |
| DATE |
May 2008 to Aug 2008 |
I have been developing websites, managing other website developers, and even somewhere in the middle. One thing I found frustrating as a developer is the constant hassling by people who want to update this little thing or that. One thing I found frustrating as a manager is that my developers don't get around to these changes fast enough.
I created this product, a content management system that allows developers the flexibility to design the website however they choose. The backend is low level enough so that developers aren't bound by pre-existing templates and structures many other current CMS delivers. The frontend is easy enough that anybody can edit.
| WHAT |
Online version of the Italian card game, Bang! |
| WHY |
This was one of my favorite card games in college. After we graduated, I made this so we still have a means to play even though we're worlds apart. |
| LANG. |
PHP/MySQL, HTML, Javascript |
| DATE |
May 2008 to Aug 2008 |
Bang allowed me to play around with javascript, and forced me to tackle problems in efficient programming. The original product was way to demanding on the bandwidth. Most importantly, now I can get people to play the game even if they are thousands of miles away.
This (still) only works in Firefox. Someday I will return and make it more cross-browser friendly.
| WHAT |
A collaborative, crowd-sourcing service to help people organize creative and quirky events |
| WHY |
This is what I love to do on the weekends--get friends together who don't know each other to go outside and do something active and fun. |
| LANG. |
PHP/MySQL, HTML, Javascript (using Wordpress, I stood up this site in 2 weeks) |
| DATE |
Sept 2010 and onwards |
I spent some time before this project reflecting on what I'm passionate about. I realized that I am passionate about building communities, having fun, and enabling other people to do the same. On weekends, I am often organizing wacky fun trips for my friends. I wanted to combine all of that into a project that enables other people to do the same. Then I got 2 of my friends together, and the three of us brainstormed and collaborated. Thus, The Funscape was born.
| WHAT |
Tool to help users create animations just by speaking into their mics. |
| WHY |
People have great ideas for cartoons, but not everybody has the knowledge to animate. This bridges that gap and enables people to make cartoons the simple way. |
| LANG. |
Actionscript 3, PHP, MySQL |
| DATE |
May 2010 & ongoing |
I started making animation in 2004. Even though some of them turned out well (one has 215,000+ views on YouTube so far), they were tedious and time consuming. Moreover, it had a fairly steep learning curve.
I set out to make animation more accessible, and decided that all people really need to do is select their character and tell them what to say.
This is still a work in progress, it's been tested with a handful of users and undergoing renovations and feature adds.
| WHAT |
Brainstorming site where people can share ideas, vote & comment |
| WHY |
My friends and I love to brainstorm. We get together every so often for "creative think tanks." When we can't get together, I still wanted to provide a medium for us to brainstorm open ended questions. Thus, this. |
| LANG. |

| WHAT |

| WHAT |
A collection of ideas, thoughts, and records of interesting designs and things I stumble upon. |
| WHY |
Because there are so many interesting things in the world that make me stop and smile. |
| PLATFORM |

| WHAT |
Pieces of clothing held together by zippers. You can unzip and reconfigure the garment. Make a sleeveless shirt, or perhaps an assymetrical shirt. Mix and match colors. |
| WHY |
I love legoes, because they enable you to make things. They are toys that enable people to create toys. Mega toys. I want to have the same option with clothing. Clothing made of legoes chafe. Clothing held together by zippers looks good. |
